FAQS

What is stone grinding?

Stone grinding is a mechanical process that uses diamond abrasives to remove the top layer of stone, eliminating damage such as scratches, stains, and uneven surfaces.

What types of stone can be ground?

Most natural stones including marble, travertine, limestone, and concrete-based products (like reconstituted stone) can be ground.

What issues does grinding fix?

Grinding can remove: Scratches and etching Lippage (uneven tile edges) Deep stains Surface damage and wear

Will grinding remove all stains and damage?

Not always. While it significantly improves the surface, some deep stains or structural issues within the stone may remain.

Will there be a lot of dust?

We use wet grinding methods to minimise airborne dust. However, some slurry and residue should be expected during the process.

How long does the process take?

This depends on the size of the area and condition of the floor, but most residential jobs take 1–3 days.

What finish can I expect?

Finishes can range from matte (honed) to high gloss (polished), depending on your preference and the type of stone.

Do I need to seal the stone after grinding?

Yes. Grinding opens the pores of the stone, so sealing is recommended to protect against staining and ensure a consistent finish.

How long before I can use the area again?

Light foot traffic is usually possible within 24 hours, but full curing of sealers may take longer depending on the product used.

How do I maintain the floor after grinding?

Use pH-neutral cleaners, avoid harsh chemicals, and consider periodic resealing to maintain appearance and durability.
